some people live around here are without water. you are talking about 20 buildings in the 800 block of north calvert street. less than a week after a 60-inch water main broke on charles and 20th street, this morning of 40-inch in the 200 block of madison street began gushing water or around 8:30 this morning. >> i went in to make coffee and there was no water pressure. i had no idea there was a water main break. >> cars parked in a parking lot near the break had to be towed out before they became flooded. water rushed down madison street beneath the jones falls expressway. crews scramble to get to the valves to get the water turned off. it was quite a mess. >> baltimore is going to be

underneath the water. they need to get to the problem and deal with it. >> it seems like these water main breaks will continue until the city is able to replace its aging bikes. -- its aging pipes. >> i wish to could do something about fixing the age-old infrastructure. we have talked about that many times. baltimore city has a very old infrastructure and this is just an indication that age is finally catching up. >> meanwhile, once again you can see progress is being made fast today for this 30-inch main. they will pump the water out and once they get down there, it is not very deep, 6-8 below the surface of the road. then they can determine how long it will take to get that pipe out and repair the damaged pipe. meanwhile, while this is going on, crews got a call about

another main break, this one in rosedale. that is where gary sims is come alive. >> we checked in just a little while ago with the department's public works and they say they are handling seven water main breaks, five of them that happened just today. that includes this one here in the 8800 block of philadelphia road in rosedale. they say this happen between 12 and 12:30 this afternoon. the department of public works says it is a 16-inch main that broke. officials at franklin square medical center said they had low water pressure and the restricted drinking water as a precaution. they say now the situation has improved and the water pressure is back. a community college cancel classes because of the break. stevens received word by e-mail and also a text message. -- students received word.

everything under control. the family lived in the house was able to make it outside without harm. >> elmo is in the news tonight. kate amara has details on the story. >> the leave of absence was prompted by news that 52-year- old kevin clash had a relationship with a 16-year-old. elmo is one of the most recognizable characters on television, but today it was revealed the actor who voices the sesame street star is taking some time off of work. kevin clash has been accused of having a sexual relationship with the 16-roble. sesame workshops as the puppeteer denies the charges, which were first made back in june by the alleged victim, who by then was 23 years old. sesame workshops said in a statement today, we took it very

seriously. we met with kevin, who denies the accusation. the nonprofit says clash used poor judgment and violated company policy regarding internet use but ultimately bound claim to be unsubstantiated. the associated press reports clash said, i have a relationship with the accuser. it was between two consenting adults, and i am deeply saddened that he is trying to make it into something it was not. sesame workshop says clash asked for and was granted a leave of absence in order to refute the allegations and protect his reputation. the show is currently in production and the new york times report said other puppeteers will fill in as the voice of elmo during his absence. >> more fallout tonight following the resignation of cia

director david petraeus because of an extramarital affair. daniel l. lee is on capitol hill tonight with more. -- danielle lee. >> lawmakers said the affair put former general david petraeus in a compromise position. lawmakers are criticizing the fbi for initially keeping secret an investigation that led to the downfall of former cia director david petraeus. >> to have someone out there in such a sensitive position, he may or may not have been having an affair at the time. >> government officials say the investigation started out months ago.

joe kelly, a friend of petraeus said he was receiving anonymous threatening e-mails. in the process, it was discovered he had had an affair. a former spokesman for traders said this of the relationship. >> it in about four months ago. >> according to officials, the fbi did not report the incident to his boss or congress or the president until concluding its investigation last week. the president accepted his resignation friday. >> it is very puzzling, and i think it was a mistake because it does happen so fast and so hard. since then, and has been like peeling an onion. >> the national security -- once the fbi concluded there is no national security breach by the cia director, there's really nothing there. >> he is more concerned about what happens next as congress

investigates the attack in benghazi, libya. >> the acting cia director will testify about benghazi later this week. congress says at some point, they will likely call on the former four-star general to testify as well. >> new details tonight on the weekend flea market brawl in baltimore county that landed one man and a hospital. baltimore county police said it was all gang-related and tonight brandon quinet and allen lull are facing charges. the fight broke out at the north. plea market. the victim, a 52-year-old from the dundalk area is the alleged gang member. his injuries are not reported to be life-threatening. >> a mild afternoon across most of the mid-atlantic.

-- pretty warm for this time of year. 30's and 40's in cleveland, columbus, up to detroit. a solid line of rain stretches from the eastern great lakes into western pennsylvania, almost into oakland and garrett county. it will be there in the next hour or so. we expect rain to keep moving east tonight, especially -- reaching the baltimore area close to midnight. right over toward baltimore and the western shore of the bay by about midnight or so. the rain starts to change over to some snow overnight and there could be a light accumulation. probably some rain year for the tuesday morning rush-hour in and showers will continue pressing east and looks like the skies will clear up as we head toward lunch time and into the afternoon hours. 35-bit before the love tonight, but the clouds will shift to the

northwest and that dusty northwest breeze will bring in cooler air. even though we will see sunshine tomorrow afternoon and wednesday, it will not warm up a lot. the air mass behind that front is quite chilly. the front hangs up off the carolina coast and it may bring more clouds into the region thursday afternoon and may be a shower on the eastern shore friday morning. the-55 degrees tomorrow, that is the high temperature and that will probably be in the morning with temperatures slowly falling through the day. on the day, small craft advisory, northwest winds at 15- 20, gusting to 25. in western maryland, the rain could changeover to snow late tonight or tomorrow morning and a few flurries continue tomorrow with ties only in the 30's'. same kind of temperature drop on the eastern shore, raindrops us

information office here in ellicott city is closed because of the veterans day holiday. at any rate, a number of employees at that talk of bell in colombia have identified the victim as 30-0 gary graham. tonight he isn't shock trauma in critical -- tonight he is at shock trauma in critical condition. a little more than 24 hours after a manager, who employees identified as a 30-year-old gary graham, was shot in the restaurant parking lot. police would not confirm the victim's name. police say around 12:50 sunday morning, the victim was confronted by two men outside the store and they began shooting at him. the victim was struck several times and manage to get into the top of bell, where employees called 911. at the exxon gas station across from the top old bell, mohammad

says graham was a regular at the store and right before he was shot, he purchased something in the store and was confronted as he left. >> somewhere in the parking lot they grabbed him. >> the station's owner says he also handed over surveillance camera footage to police, which they hope will give them more clues about the case in what he calls a highly unusual incident. >> it is very rare that something like this would happen here. i have been here 12 years and we've had no incidents. to hear something like this so close by is very uncommon in very unusual. it is kind of alarming, too. >> in a news release, police said that a motive is unknown and that the investigation is ongoing. so far, they are looking for two males in this case. lowell melser, wbal-tv 11 news. >> here's a look at some of our

other top stories at this hour. two new water main breaks tonight, the first in the mount vernon area of baltimore city. it happened shortly after 8:00 this morning on east madison street. low water pressure and cloudy water have been affecting residents and businesses. this comes less than a week after a 60-inch main broke on -- >> street. earlier this afternoon, a 16- inch water main broke. surrounding institutions have been affected by the break but now they say water pressure is back to normal at franklin square hospital in baltimore county community college as well. one man is in critical condition after being shot in the head sunday night. police found an african-american man lying unconscious in a wooded area. his identity as not been released. detectives are looking into the case and there is no word on a motive or possible suspects.

day, the same giant american flag that once flew above the domino sugar refinery when an open in 1922. it is part of the companies veterans day celebration as it recognizes its 90th anniversary year. the 120 sq. ft. flag was strategically placed next to the neon sign weren't home for -- until about 25 years ago but was knocked down in a storm. domino sugar is announcing a contest inviting anyone to submit their photo of that iconic sign. although veterans day with yesterday, the government is celebrating a holiday today. >> baltimore city held up true show of patriotism. >> hundreds of people that often a parade to support military

through wednesday. as far as the bright sunshine goes, it will be colder than normal. thursday as a formal try to form to this out and we may get some of the clouds from it. even a passing shower thursday afternoon could clip parts of the eastern shore on friday morning. i next chance of rain will probably hold off until the end of the week. 45-50 tonight, showers likely, the sun goes down at 4:54. tomorrow the northwest breeze kicks the temperature from climbing. we will only finished with a high in the low 50's. on the bay tomorrow, winds will be turning to the northwest, with 2-3 foot waves and the small craft advisory flag is up on the open waters of the bay. eastern shore, some gusty winds
